Trying a Sailboat

Lucky enough to be storing Greg's parents' sailboat here in our garage.  For one of Nathan's cub scout requirements Greg pulled it out to teach Nathan how to set it up and use it.

 

 

Another time Nathan and Greg took it out for a few hours.
They had a great time ... but Nathan was quick to let us know it's a lot of rope and a lot of work!

We should have known, though, that Carol would be the Master!

Stratego was a big hit too...thanks to Grandma teaching both kids in Colorado and Utah so they'd know how when they got together!

This week our Colorado family came to visit.  My sister, Carol, and niece, Katherine, helped me take some cute new pictures of our kids.  Some of my favorites are now along the sidebar.  But, had to post a few more!  Thanks Carol and Katherine!

Fun Field Trip

When Greg leaves to do a week with the Young Men, it helps me to feel like we've got somewhere to go to!
We had a fun morning at a Chocolate Factory tour and a new splash pad/playground.

Cub Scout Day Camp

 

Had a great day with the Webelos in our ward (and Natalie the other leader) at Cub Scout Day Camp.  Thank goodness for Grandma and Grandpa Franson and Jon and Chelsea for having the rest of the kids for the day!  It was our scouting week with me at Day Camp and Greg at High Adventure in Yellowstone. 

Learning to Sew

 

 

 

 

Summer breeding a different level of desperation to keep kids busy in constructive ways.  I was racking my brain for a good project and decided to teach the kids how to sew.  They really surprised me with how much they liked it and how well they did.  Joshua stitched his "J" for a couple of house straight!  They've all helped make their stitched front into a small pillow.  And, Nathan has made three pillows so far!  That includes using the sewing machine himself!  We've set up a sewing "station" in the boys bedroom so that Nathan can do more during quiet time.  He's still pretty sure he likes soccer better than sewing -- which I've reassured him doesn't disappoint me!  :)  But, fun to have a little project turn into a fun, time-filling thing!
