This last Friday we were lucky enough to have a visit from some of our favorite people from Indiana! Nathan's best friend these last couple years is a boy named Jaden--who he has really missed! They were in the area visiting family and stopped by for the morning. We had such a good time! It was hard to have them go.

Kristy and Miriam. (You have to appreciate that this picture was taken by Nathan. We were kneeling on the sidewalk to be at the right height! Even still...let's just say this photo has been seriously cropped!)
Shooting off a rocket...a great invention my sister taught us how to make. Uses card stock, packing tape, and an empty plastic film canister. The "fuel" is water and an Alka-Seltzer tablet. It really does shoot off!

in our dating days Carl decided to impress me with a similar thing...mentos and a coke. What you do is drop a mentos into a bottle of coke...after you have unscrewed the lid. place the lid back on and vuala(sp?) a large geyser will shoot up! pretty fun. (romantic, huh!)
It looks like you guys had a lot of fun. It sounds like a fun activity to do with the kids maybe we'll try it sometime.
I love the rocket idea! Do you mind posting directions? That seems like a fun summer afternoon experiemnt for the boys. It sure is great seeing good friends. Glad you had fun.
